Men’s Fashion Companies in Indianapolis and New York Team-Up with Testicular Cancer Foundation to Raise Awareness
INDIANAPOLIS – Local men’s fashion accessory company Rock My Bow Tie is teaming up with New York men’s underwear company Tommy John to raise awareness, and funds, for the Testicular Cancer Foundation during the month of November.
As part of Men’s Health Awareness Month, Rock My Bow Tie and Tommy John are urging men everywhere to “Support Your Balls” during the month of November.
Released for a limited time only, both companies are offering mustache-themed products the proceeds of which will be donated to the Testicular Cancer Foundation. Rock My Bow Tie has designed a stylish and quirky mustache print bow tie.
The mustache theme coincides with the increasingly popular worldwide “Movember” movement, where the growing of mustaches during the month of November raises awareness of men’s health issues such as Testicular Cancer.
The Testicular Cancer Foundation (TCF) is committed to educating men about the dangers of testicular cancer. The Foundation distributes educational material and shower cards with self-examination instructions to over 1,500 zip codes across the United States. Additionally, Rock My Bow Tie sends out self check-up instructions with every order they distribute to customers.
One of the company’s co-founders has an intimate connection to the cause.
“As a testicular cancer survivor, I can honestly say I feel lucky to be alive. If not for early detection and seeking medical advice immediately, it is quite possible I wouldn’t be here today. Spreading the word about self-detection is the key to increasing the survival rate of this indiscriminate disease. The Testicular Cancer Foundation is a great partner to help accomplish this goal,” said Weston Sedgwick, Rock My Bow Tie Co-Founder.
According to Rock My Bow Tie’s other co-founder Cris Dorman, Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer among males age 15-35. It is also one of the most curable forms if detected early. In fact, the survival rate for cases discovered in the beginning stages is nearly 99%.
“The easiest way to detect Testicular Cancer early is by performing monthly self-examinations. It’s a quick and painless process that has the potential to save lives,” said Dorman. “We’ve always taken a proactive interest in supporting Testicular Cancer awareness. “It’s an important issue and we want to do whatever we can to help out.”
